Adopting an IG
The four-step process -

Application
- Home Visit
- Discussion (on which foster dogs might be a
good fit with you)
- Meeting (available foster dogs)
Please fill out the online
Adoption Application. You must be 21 years old, and looking to adopt a dog for yourself, not
a friend or family member, and not as a gift. Incomplete applications,
applications from people outside of our area, and applications that do not meet our
basic requirements will be discarded.
We will check references and contact you within 10-14
days if we are going to continue on with a home visit.
A physical home visit is required, and will be done by a Lifeline
volunteer. We can only consider your application if we have a volunteer who
lives within driving distance of your home. Our volunteers are
primarily located in the area around Minneapolis and western Wisconsin, so
if you live outside of our area, we will NOT be
able to consider your application.
If the applicant has been approved for
adoption - after reference checking and a home visit - we talk about which
foster dogs might be a good fit, and at that time, introduce the applicant
to dogs in foster care.
When a match has been made between approved
adopter and a foster dog, we do require that adopters
travel to the foster home
to finalize the adoption. We do not ship dogs and do not provide transportation to new
homes.

To 'Meet the Breed': If you're
not sure if Italian Greyhounds are a good match for you, we can arrange
for you to meet an IG. Please
email your full
name, address and date of birth if you would like to meet with a volunteer
and his/her IG.
We check references prior to any visits.
