Allegra

Sponsored by April

Renamed Berry

Co-adopted by Aumori & Lisa in Minnesota

"Berry, formerly Allegra, is a happy, silly, wiggly puppy. She is a very smart dog that is always thinking and learning, sometimes so she can be naughty in the future and sometimes so she can be a good girl in the future, which ever serves her better. Berry loves her doggy siblings (Dodger, Tag and Twist) and always wants to be near them or playing with them. Though Berry is not one to like to be picked up and held in your arms, she does like to snuggle with her people on the couch, on her terms.

Berry has a great future ahead of her since she has 2 owners that are very excited to do a lot of lure coursing, racing, agility, and obedience with her. She has been through beginner obedience and is currently taking beginner agility classes. Berry has such a great energy when she is working and learning and enjoys every minute. She most certainly will excel in running sports since she has such high prey drive and LOVES to 'get the bunny'.

This little girl is pretty darn cute and loves to wiggle her whole body and whip her tail side to side when she is happy, which is often. Berry loves greeting people and crawling in their laps on the couch. One of her favorite things are ripping fuzz and plastic into shreds and has been known to chew apart electric cords, wood trim, and socks. Another very cute quirk about Berry is that she can be vocal and when she snuggles with you she will groan in delight when she is being pet and loved."

Ayla Belue

Sponsored by Michelle & Cory, and Mary

Adopted by Victor in Florida

"I signed onto Facebook one morning and opened an email from Lifeline Italian Greyhound Rescue, which had been forwarded to me by Todd Doxtater (Lifeline adopter/volunteer). After 2 sleepless nights with visions of her big expressive eyes, I decided to contact Lifeline and ask if the puppy was still available and the response was YES!! I was told her name was Ayla and immediately said I want her. At home I have Blanca 13 years and Comet 12.5 years and with Ayla I completed my ABC's. It sounded like the perfect family.

Ayla arrived in Florida on a warm October afternoon and my heart filled with joy when greeted by this beautiful creature. Blanca has been a little more reserved opening up but Comet has welcomed her with open paws. Comet and Ayla play all day long. I can't remember Blanca having this much energy as a puppy. With her crazy bursts of energy Ayla is the most affection creature on the planet. She loves to play but she LOVES to cuddle. She goes on many play dates and burns tons of energy.

It has been a great six months and I can't imagine our family without her. I thank Lifeline for blessing me with this amazing creature and I can guarantee you - she will have an amazing life here in Florida - especially with her 2 older siblings Blanca & Comet!

Arlo Bert

Sponsored by Laura & Michelle, and Genie

Adopted by Kathi & Matt in Minnesota

"We (Matt and Kathi,  along with Scooby, Daisy and Olive) welcomed our newest addition Arlo Bert into our hearts and home on Labor Day 2010. This was a decision that we thought about for a few months.  I (Matt) was like a kid in a candy store the moment that I saw all of the puppies online and that’s where it all started! We weren’t sure about another dog seeing as we had 2 I.G's and a cat already, but looking back, we know it was a good decision.

We remember the day that we brought Arlo home like it was yesterday. We arrived at Arlo's foster home in Hastings and met with his wonderful foster mom Becky. We signed all of the necessary documents and had Arlo say goodbye to his Mom and sister. It was an emotional day for all of us - Becky was losing Arlo, and Mia cried at the fence as we were leaving. Once Arlo was in the car we wrapped him in a blanket and he fell asleep in Kathi's arms while we rode home.

Once home, we re-introduced all of the dogs and things went pretty smooth. Arlo picked up many cues from Scooby and Daisy and has mixed some of his own in as well. Starting in late September, we enrolled Arlo into puppy kindergarten at All Breed Obedience in Woodbury. We steadily watched him learn and progress while becoming better educated ourselves. Once Arlo completed his puppy class we enrolled him into Obedience 1 and he gained even more knowledge and better behavior. He passed with good scores and great compliments. We still try to work with him to keep up on his training and he has retained much of it.

As for his accomplishments, Arlo passed both of his training classes and as of last week his biggest accomplishment was that he finally (after many exhausted attempts and coaxing) went downstairs into the basement all by himself without any intervention. Arlo has many things that he enjoys around the house like playing with the cat, antagonizing the other 2 dogs and chasing Scooby in the backyard (he has yet to learn that squirrels are not allowed in the yard). Arlo’s favorite things to do are playing tug with an old sock or his rope toy, and chew on anything that makes noise. We think the things Arlo does best is cuddling and being a sweetheart. We love our special little guy very much!"

Algy

Sponsored by Megann

Adopted by Amanda & Kevin in Indiana

"We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for choosing us to adopt Algy. We fell in love with her pictures prior to adopting her and we love her more and more every day since the adoption. It didn’t take long for Algy to adjust to her new home and she has made a great addition to our little IG family. She is fun, loving, playful, and energetic. She makes us smile and laugh every day. She loves her two older brothers; Kingston who is 3 and Titan who is 4. Titan has taken on the motherly role making sure she is protected and safe and we call Kingston her boyfriend because they are always together and do not like to be away from each other. They all love to chase each other around and play together. We have taken Algy to basic training classes, in which she was a little stubborn at times, but she did very well.

Algy will be taking on a big role in our upcoming wedding. She is going to be our flower girl, along with our two boys being the ring bearers. We couldn’t have our wedding without including our babies. We couldn’t be happier with our adoption decision. Algy is our little princess and we could imagine our lives without her."

Alvin

Sponsored by Kari

Adopted by Allison & Colin in Minnesota

"When we first met Alvin, he was quiet and shy and he got along with our other IG (Buddy) great. We loved how he would stand back and watch things, like he was debating whether or not he should investigate or sit there and be content. Over the past year, his personality has come through! He loves to run and play when ever he can. We attended Puppy Training class with Dawn and Alvin did great. We’re even thinking about agility this summer.

Buddy and Alvin seem to have their language, we catch them talking to each other or Alvin will talk to us when he wants something. We kept his original name because it fits his personality so much. (Alvin and the Chipmunks). He can be so mischievous, yet adorable at the same time. Alvin has been such a happy puppy and brought so much joy to us. Happy Birthday Alvin!"

Avast

 Sponsored by Amanda & Joel

Renamed Stella

Adopted by Karen & Mike in Wisconsin

"Hi! I'm Stella (formerly "Avast") and I live with Karen and Mike in Wautoma, WI. Karen knew which pup she wanted when she met me; every one of the foster moms did a great job in raising me for my first few months! I am super smart, very cute, and active. Did I say ACTIVE?! My mom says if I'm not napping, I'm ping-ponging around the house, doing the high step, or "sproinging" (springing and boinging combined- only we IG's do this!). I love toys and I have a lot of them. The squeaky toys with no stuffing that look like road-kill are my favorite, but I chew a lot too- so nylabones and kongs are cool too.

Potty training took a little longer than usual. I had a resistant urinary tract infection that took several rounds of antibiotics and special food to get rid of. But, I'm proud to say I still learned to potty outside through it all. I ring a bell to go out and will go out rain, shine or SNOW (did we get enough of that or what!).

My best friend in the house is Meridian, an English Bulldog. I know, I know.... we're quite the unlikely couple. She doesn't run nearly as much as me, but she likes when I run over her, around her, and back again and we roll around on a big snuggle ball bed. I also love cats in a very "border collie way" and I live with 4 of them! Sometimes I stalk them and pop up and surprise them and then lick their ears. Every night when I wind down on the couch, my Siamese friend Skye comes to groom my face and ears. I can hardly contain my excitement over her affection and then I gently nibble her back - it's a win-win situation, really. My other dog best friends are a 11 mo. black English Cocker "Gracie" - we have had playdates often ever since we were both little, and a 1 and 1/2 year old English Pointer "Rookie" who's in my Agility class. Whenever I see either of them I just wiggle and wiggle and wiggle cause it's playtime!!! Even though I'm Italian, I really have an "English" theme going!

So, speaking of my Agility class - have you ever tried it? SO FUN!!! I've been in training since 6 months and even though I'm ready to compete at trials, all dogs must be 15 months at AKC trials to compete. In training I did lots of basics at first and only recently added in actual jumping and some of the higher obstacles because my long "spider legs" had to finish growing so I wouldn't hurt them. I LIVE for Agility so watch out world - you may see me at the National Trials someday!!!!

I can't say I'm perfect (well, I can but you might not believe me), but I'm a really good fit for my family and I love them all! One of my only downfalls is I can't resist shredding paper, cardboard, etc. Leave me alone for a few minutes and I will find something, usually from the living room table or the bathroom garbage. Empty toilet paper rolls are just so tempting! Of course, when my mom catches me I'm sooooo ashamed, but the next day I might have forgotten! Oh, I CAN be naughty!

So that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I wake every morning with a zest for life and I think that's something that all humans should consider learning from us dogs. It's been a GREAT YEAR!!!

Signing off for now- Stella "Lotsa Moxie" D'Amira"

Angelo

 Sponsored by the Wickham Family

Renamed Jazz

 adopted by Angela in Louisiana

"It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Jazz has left this earth.  One day he ran out the door and was hit and killed by a car.

I cannot believe that he is not here.  He was the most incredible dog I have ever had.  During his short time with us he attended school and was a star.  He helped calm down and nurture our two foster daughters and was just awesome.  I believe he helped my timid iggy rescue, Finn, come out of his shell.  He had a blast with Jazz.

I do want to thank you for the light that you allowed into our lives, even if it was not long enough."
